The first Forvik-registered vehicle hit the roads of Shetland last week and caused some controversy. In a further challenge to the UK authorities to prove how they derive their authority in Shetland, I parked an old Land Rover with Forvik numberplates, Forvik tax disc and Forvik country of registration sticker on the road near Sandness. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it frew some unwelcome attention from vandals, who proceeded to wreck it. That meant the my confrontation was one with the police, rather than the local authority, but it doesn't really matter. 

As it happened, I was not asked to show my driving license, but if that had been necessary I had my Forvik one ready:
